Brian Richards


Brian Richards provides a wide range of C-level business development experience to Captive Eight. Brian currently oversees the business, and is responsible for financial projections, event forecasting, talent acquisition, sales management, and client relations and business strategy.

He possesses over 13 years of corporate consulting experience including his 7-year tenure at a global events company where he was the acting General Manager of the Los Angeles office, overseeing three divisions. He has practical experience in a wide range of business management applications, including market analyses, sales and marketing, team building, quality assurance, event consulting, executive meetings, event operations, and is a moderator for many executive peer discussion groups around the country. Brian’s diverse network includes CIOs, CMOs, CFOs, General Counsels, Tax VPs, and CFOs, Health Care of Fortune 1000 Companies.

Brian also brings large-scale event production experience. He was responsible for the creation and execution of the Southwest Litigation Summit, which generated over $500K in revenue in its first event. In addition, he nurtured and helped grow the Chief Litigation and the Tax Officers Summit. He oversaw initial planning on speakers, corporate direction, revenue thresholds, event location, sales and marketing, design, and branding.

Brian attended California State University Northridge, and majored in Psychology with a minor in History. In addition, he received advanced management and sales training at the Bathe England Manor House.
He is a devoted family member, avid mountain biker, outdoor enthusiast, a foodie, and enjoys travelling.

John Kim

Vice President

As the Vice President of Operations for Captive Eight, John Kim is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company, including IT and web, event planning and production, as well as any other business functions required to keep the firm and the events running smoothly.  He’s also a Salesforce Administrator and handles the CRM and lead generation.

John has a varied career background. Most recently, he was a Technical Recruiter at Crescent Solutions, where he was responsible for Direct Hire Talent Acquisition for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to tackling the corporate world, John worked as an Itamae (Master Sushi Chef) for 14 years, specializing in the art of Sushi and Sashimi, at a variety of restaurants in Portland, OR. Between dissecting Tuna and serving Umami rich creations, John was the Sponsorship & Events Director for Garage 112’s Drift Racing Team in participation of the nationwide Formula Drift Series in the United States.

John’s core studies were Business Administration and Pre-Medicine. He also spent several years as a professional cyclist, racing with the BBC Racing Team and KWC Track Cycling Team. He is a 2011 Masters Track National Champion, obtaining a Gold medal in the Scratch Race from USA Cycling.

John’s broad background and outstanding people skills have been an important addition to the Captive Eight team.

Alex Diaz

Sales Manager

Alex Diaz runs the sponsorship division here at Captive Eight where he manages all aspects of the sales process from start to finish. He is responsible for sales hiring, training, objectives setting, coaching, account management, forecasting and performance monitoring of the sales team. Alex originally started out at Captive Eight as a Business Relations Executive where he worked his way up to become the Sales Manager.

Alex has a broad sales background from technology, sports, and now corporate consulting. Over his eight years of professional sales experience he has worked in both the outside and inside sales environments. His previous role was in the swim/triathlon world where he traveled to major cities visiting accounts and running the events at local Ironman competitions. Traveling across the US and speaking with different personalities and cultures has made his job easier relating to clients on a national level. His tech background was more on the inside role where he managed the SMB channel business unit at data protection software company, Novastor.

Alex believes in positivity and the law of attraction meaning positive thoughts brings positivity into one’s life. He prides himself on staying humble, drinking green juice, and spending time with his family, friends, and dog Sunny. Staying balanced is a big part of his ongoing life goals.
